One of Karl's sketches of his beloved Choupette, especially for Shu Uemura
Shu Uemura/Karl Lagerfeld
Karl Lagerfeld's famous pet cat Choupette has just revealed that she's got her very own limited edition make-up line with beauty brand Shu Uemura, affectionately dubbed Shu-pette (see what they did there?), that's set to hit stores around Christmas time.
Unsurprisingly, Choupette is the first domestic pet to be given the honour of having a beauty range in her name but, with such impeccable breeding, who can blame Shu Uemura for snapping up this trendsetting feline? The range is still being kept firmly under-wraps but its been reported that it'll include beauty-bag essentials such as furry false lashes and 'claw' polishes. Yep, we're officially in pun-heaven.
Karl Lagerfeld might be the creative director of Chanel (as well as heading up Fendi and his own line , Karl Lagerfeld), but the designer has long been known to support the beauty company and, believe it or not, uses their pencils and shadows as sketching materials for his designs. The white-upholstered Lagerfeld household is clearly a charcoal-free zone...
Karl has so much love for his cat - who has her own personal Twitter and Instagram accounts (if you don't already follow her, you really ought to) - that he's personally taken control of the creative side of the range, photographing Choupette in all of her smoky-eyed/white haired glory for the soon-to-launch collection, as well as snapping images of models wearing Choup's cosmetics.
If that wasn't enough for the chic cat, it's also been announced that a book dedicated to Choupette's fantastic life will hit the shelves on September 15th this year. Be still our beating hearts!
The book, entitled Choupette: The Private Life Of A High-Flying Fashion Cat, will give us a glimpse at what it's really like to have the one and only Karl Lagerfeld as your 'Daddy', what really goes on behind Chanel's closed doors and, of course, tips on how you can Choupette-up your life.
We don't know about you, but we're seriously excited for these two kitty kollections to drop. Bring on September...
