Ever since the punk-themed Met Ball earlier this year, tartan and safety pins have been making appearances everywhere, from the red carpet to the catwalk.
While the punks of 2013 may not look quite so edgy as their predecessors, there’s no denying the lasting influence the originals have had on fashion. Just take a look at Cara Delevingne or Katy Perry’s recent plaid outfits, or, indeed, the plethora of tartan on the high-street covering everything from dresses to bags.
And now Karl Lagerfeld has got in on the action with a punk-inspired capsule collection. A monochrome tartan shift, skater dress and trousers are standout pieces in the 11-strong collection, but it’s the T-shirt with Karl’s face on (complete with Mohawk) that’s the real must-have.
Karl Goes Punk launches on 24 September in Karl Lagerfeld stores and on 2 October on Net-a-Porter.com
