John Lewis' new Christmas advert will definitely leave you a bit weepy
John Lewis manages to garner the same media buzz and attention around it's Christmas advert as a Hollywood film these days, and for good reason we think.
The high street department store has unveiled its Christmas TV advert for 2013, and it's definitely one of, if not the, best yet.
Entitled The Bear & The Hare, John Lewis has opted to tell its Christmas tale with cartoon woodland animals and a beautiful soundtrack from Lily Allen this time around. Trust us, you'll need a box of tissues at the ready when watching this two-minute tearjerker.
The story tells the tale of Hare and his best friend Bear, the latter of which has never seen Christmas (as the opening credits of the advert tell us), as he is always too busy hibernating. This means Hare has always spent Christmas alone – cue large mournful eyes from the furry creature – until he decides to gift Bear an alarm clock so he can finally wake up and the two can enjoy the festivities together. It really is too cute for words.
Meanwhile, Lily Allen has chosen this opportunity to break her three-year silence from music. The singer has recorded a version of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know to soundtrack the advert, and it's Lily at her best.
it's safe to say we'll be playing this advert on repeat until New Year.
