Whether you're getting married this year or, you know, just casually like to fantasise about what you'll wear on your eventual big day (don't worry, you're not alone) the options can be slim.
If big puffy dresses just aren't your thing but you don't feel comfortable in slinky gowns either, picking out a bridal look can be very tricky indeed.
So, you'll be very pleased to learn that J.Crew is coming to your aid this summer with it's seriously cool new range of bridal-wear that will see several alternatives to the traditional wedding dress hit the shelves. And when we say alternative, we MEAN alternative.
If you're a seasoned J.Crew shopper, you'll know they it's already leading the way with its chic range of wedding dresses, jewellery, shoes and accessories. However, the US label has just revealed that, for summe,r it's going to debut an array of bridal crop tops, trousers, shorts and skirts for very stylish brides-to-be. Yes, we did say crop tops...
Speaking about the new direction for J.Crew's already sought-after bridal line, its senior design director Molly Schaul said: 'The J.Crew girl is all about standing out and being bold and unique, but still feminine and timeless. Our newest bridal collection was inspired by a beach-themed getaway. With the destination theme, we added really beautiful silhouettes — and expanded our bridal separates. We have delicate lace pants, skirts, and cropped tops coming out this summer.'
Of course, we need not remind you about the wedding look the ever-stylish Olivia Palermo chose to don to her big day, which consisted of a bespoke Carolina Herrera three-piece ensemble. Made up of a simple cream cashmere sweater complete with scattered ostrich feathers and offbeat white shorts which she styled with a full tulle skirt overlay, OP opened our minds (and J.Crew's by the looks of things) to the less obvious bridal looks out there.
However, Olivia's not the only A-lister to get in on the alternative wedding dress action.
Solange Knowles famously wore a cream jumpsuit with an added cape to tie the knot last year while back in Hollywood's heyday actress Mia Farrow wore a sophisticated satin two-piece to exchange her vows with Frank Sinatra. Beautiful...
The collection is due to hit the label's online store and London shops in late April and will allow brides to really show off their personal style even on their wedding day.
The big question is, would you dare to wear a crop top or pair of shorts on your big day? Let us know in the comments below...
