Jaden Smith is quickly becoming every cool guy’s style inspiration, but even we questioned his outfit at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding. Will Smith’s 16 year old son infamously sported an all white Batman suit to the wedding of the year, complete with mask, cape and belt - this was no half-hearted fancy dress, but at least it was chic and…minimal?
In an interview with GQ, Jaden revealed that he wore the suit to “heighten the experience. I also felt as though I needed to protect everyone there and needed to have the proper gear to do so”. Ok then… Jaden also divulged that although he’s been wearing superhero suits since he was a little boy and likes to feel powerful, he doesn’t necessarily have to wear superhero costumes everyday. That’s good to know, Jaden – the real world might not react so well to a Batman costume as a casual look for popping to the supermarket. As for style icons? “My style icons are Batman, Robin, Superman, and Kanye West”.
Still, we applaud Jaden’s rule-bending style. He is the poster boy for truly androgynous fashion thanks to his love of skirts and dresses, even choosing to wear a dress and tux jacket to prom. Jaden is slowly bring a new meaning to urban fashion and we would put money on a clothing collaboration in the near future.
We saw Kim giving Kylie’s blue hair serious side-eye, so we’re surprised that she let Jaden’s bold superhero get-up slide for the wedding of the century. After all, nobody should try and upstage the bride, even if you are a child superstar and friend of the family.
Kris Jenner, queen of Momager chic, loved the look, calling it “genius. The Batman costume was really cool and fabulous. It wasn't like a crazy thing. It was actually really fun, and he added such a humor to the night and it was great”. She even stole Jaden’s white boots for the walk home after the wedding.
