Jackie Kennedy’s ‘fake’ pearls go on sale

The famous First Lady’s costume jewellery is expected to fetch over £25,000

Jackie Kennedy Onassis could do no wrong in the style stakes, which is why her triple-strand pearl necklace could fetch upwards of £25,000 at a Bonhams auction next week.

What’s surprising is that the choker, which features a diamond and emerald-coloured clasp, is actually fake and worth only a few hundred pounds. Bonham’s jewellery expert Jean Ghika revealed: “It’s fair to say that 99.9% of the value is because they belonged to Jackie Kennedy.” What can we say - if we were that flush, we’d be splashing the cash to own a little piece of fashion history ourselves!
