It Looks Like The Wedding Flip Flop Trend Is Now A Bona Fide Bridal Tradition...

Along with jam jar cocktails and lace bunting, flip flops are now officially a wedding tradition and super-comfy Havaianas is finally getting in on the action...

If you've been to a wedding in the last couple of years, you might have been the recipient of a pair of flip flops courtesy of the bride and groom. Some might go as far as saying that the happy couple supplying their guests with a pair of throwaway shoes, to rescue weary stiletto-clad feet from blisters on the dance floor, has become something of a new wedding tradition.

It's certainly not a bad idea – guests don't want to spend the day hobbling around, and no-one likes an empty dance floor – and so now the world's most famous flip flop brand, Havaianas, has created a limited edition wedding flip flop and yes, they're about to change the wedding scene for good. Sure, they may come in at a tenner a pop – and you have to buy a minimum of 96 pairs — so that's almost a £1,000 gone on shoes for your guests but for those of you who've worn their spongy slides for yourself will know that they couldn't be farther from bog standard. Yep — they're way more luxe.

However, with the average wedding in the UK now costing upwards of £20,000, we're guessing not all couples will have a spare grand to spend on flip flops, and that was definitely the case for InStyle's Digital Fashion and Beauty writer Maxine Eggenberger who gave her wedding guests a pair each at her nuptials last year, but she bought hers in bulk for less. Savvy yes, but she still wishes Havaianas had come up trumps with this bridal range sooner.

However, if you are lucky enough to have a budget for flip flops that stretches to a grand (maybe you've saved money by buying this £80 wedding dress), then we'd say the Havaianas are the ones to go for. They certainly make for an amazing keepsake...
