For the first time ever in the fashion house’s history, Tod’s classic leather saddlery has been given a colourful contemporary twist, courtesy of photographer David LaChapelle.
Dreamt out of a desire by Tod’s to show their traditional totes “in a completely new and unusual way”, the Pop Touch project reinvents the brand’s equestrian inspired leathers.
The Sella Bag – which takes its inspiration from a dressage saddle – is the star of the story, in a project that combines theatrical scenery and moving sketches with luxe leather.
Speaking of the campaign, David said, “This idea came about because looking at the history of the company and its craftsmanship, it just suggested the world of saddle.”
Adding, “The joy I get out of my work is all to do with the fun of the collaborative process and the creativity – for this project, the set, and working with all of the talented people who made it happen, that process, that moment of creation – it all equals the beauty of the single finished image.” NL
The ‘Pop Touch’ project and sale of the Sella bag will be launched online in early September.
