Annina Vogel's Engravings collection
Beloved by industry insiders and the likes of Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss, Annina Vogel’s statement jewellery has made a big impact in the fashion world since the brand was launched in 2008.
And now, just when we thought the collection couldn’t get any more achingly cool, a limited edition line of original Victorian signet rings and pendants has been released, each one featuring literary engravings from iconic figures of the era, including Oscar Wilde, Alfred Tennyson and even Queen Victoria.
If you fancy getting your hands on one of these modern-meets-vintage heirlooms, Annina Vogel will be joined by an on-site hand engraver at Liberty from 9 September, ready to create a completely gorgeous, personalised piece.
Ahead of the launch, we caught up with Annina to get the lowdown on the new line, as well as her jewellery inspirations and how she feels about Kate Moss wearing her designs...NL
What inspired you to create this range?
My love of Victorian wit and my obsession with jewellery from that era. I love sourcing pieces that aren't necessarily appreciated in their current format and then giving them a modern edge - like an old unworn cufflink being converted into an everyday ring.
Do you have a favourite quote from the collection?
I love them all! If I had to pick one it would be Queen Victoria's quote: “The important thing is not what they think of me, but what I think of them." I wonder what that says about me…
Is there a piece (from this collection, or any of your work) that you are particularly proud of?
I have so many favourites, it's impossible to choose. But I did wear the Diamond Wings Necklace for a very long time before putting it in to the cabinet. I was absolutely devastated when it sold.
Who would you love to see wearing your jewellery?
I had a list of people that I dreamed of seeing wearing my pieces and I’m very fortunate that, over time, everyone on that list has become a client, starting with Kate Moss when I first launched. Kate still wears her piece from my first collection – the signature charm necklace!
Prices start from £350, and will be available from Liberty London on 9 September.
