It’s not every day that exciting places open in London’s edgier Eastern quarter. But hot on the heels of Shoreditch Rooms comes the brand-new Town Hall Hotel & Apartments, which opens on 12 May in Patriot Square, Bethnal Green.
The building really was a town hall in its former life, complete with marble columns, built-in safe and a court room and could hardly be handier for destos like Brick Lane, Dalston Market, Columbia Road flower market, Shoreditch and even the City, which you get all to yourself at the weekend.
Bedrooms are huge for London and all but seven are fitted out as apartments, with a kitchen and washing machine. The top room, the De Montfort suite, is jaw-droppingly fabulous: we defy anyone not to feel like a celeb if they stay here. And at £2k a night, it compares favourably with London’s grandest dame hotels, while being the size of a football pitch.
But the centre of the action will, of course, be the bar – painted an elegant Wedgwood blue, it’s a chic spot for beautiful-people watching. The restaurant Viajante will be run by Nuno Mendes from the renowned 3-star Michelin El Bulli in Spain.
Town Hall is offering a Special Weekend rate from just £99 + VAT per room per night. This rate is only available on a Friday and Saturday night and is valid from opening until 31 August 2010. To book, call 020 7871 0460 or visit www.townhallhotel.com
