Balenciaga's latest campaign shows us an edgy side to the Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen that we've never seen before...
Gisele Bundchen is no stranger to fronting a major designer campaign – she's got hoards under her belt for next season alone – but her latest turn as the face of Balenciaga for their AW14 collection has sent the fashion world into overdrive.
The ad images, which were released over the weekend, show the 33-year-old Brazilian supermodel clad in black leather and thigh-high boots in what looks like a shattered hall of mirrors, staring pensively into the middle distance. However, it's not the clothes that have got the tongues of those in the know wagging; it's the fact that the model has been given a grunge buzz-cut for her turn as Balenciaga's woman.
This is a whole new look for Gisele who's regular 'do consists of seriously luxe waves made famous during her days as a Victoria's Secret angel.
Speaking of his new collection and the ad campaign itself, Balenciaga's creative director Alexander Wang said: 'This is how I see Gisele for Balenciaga; strong, powerful, mysterious and uncompromising'. And we reckon she's nailed it.
Whether it's a wig or a work of photo-shop we're not 100% sure but, thanks to Gisele's latest world-cup related Instagram-a-thon, it's plain to see that her glossy locks are still fully in tact. Phew.
Making a buzz-cut look chic is no mean feat. Bravo, Gisele.
