While yesterday might have been the final day of Milan Fashion Week, with presentations from iconic Italian fashion houses Giorgio Armani and Gianfranco Ferre, it summoned in the first day of Paris Fashion Week and the Autumn Winter 2013 presentations from Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Chloe and Alexander McQueen that are yet to come.
Demonstrating his industry status on both sides of the pond over the weekend, Giorgio Armani not only dressed some of the biggest names on the Oscars 2013 red carpet, but also sent a storm of models down the runway in a collection he termed, ‘decidedly avant-garde’.
Trousers – wide-legged, creased and high-waisted – reigned, and teamed with box jackets, turtleneck tops and printed velvet cardigans provided an elegant alternative for eveningwear. A-listers need not have worried, however, as beaded, sequin-covered gowns fit for the red carpet formed the show’s finale.

And as the fashion flock began to check they had their passports, Gianfranco Ferre kept mindsets in Milan for a few final moments with a powerful Autumn Winter 2013 presentation that reasserted the season’s focus on the belt. Fastened and knotted over cropped leather trenches, twisted halterneck gowns and smoking jackets.
So it’s three down, one to go. Paris Fashion Week kicks off today and there’s everything to look forward to with fashion collections from Rochas, Balmain, Carven and Lanvin hitting the runways before the weekend’s even begun!
