Red carpet favourite Giambattista Valli has announced that it will be adding a new ready-to-wear line to the label.
The new line promises to be every bit as playful as its name: Giamba, which is how Valli is known to his nearest and dearest.
'It's another side of the same coin,' Valli told WWD. 'There is also a playful, underground and sexy side in me and in my designs that you will see in the Giamba line. I've been thinking about it for a while and waited for the right time, and now it's matured. I am really very happy. I feel the need to dress women in general, and Giamba is a little more intimate
This new venture comes ten years after Valli first launched his eponymous label, having graduated from Central St Martins and taken over at Emanuel Ungaro. Despite showing his current collection in Paris, Valli will launch Giamba at Milan Fashion Week in September.
'France has given me a lot, but so has Italy and a part of me is returning to the country,' he said.
Giambattista Valli already has a vast – and varied – following among the A-list, with everyone from Emma Watston and Miley Cyrus to Diane Kruger and Penelope Cruz looking to the label to dress them for the most dazzling events.
With that in mind, we think the Giamba ticket will be one of the hottest of MFW. Watch this space...
