Chanel managed to make supermarkets glamorous this week, as it turned its Autumn Winter 14 catwalk into a shopping centre where models showed off the new collection, whilst filling baskets with Chanel-branded food and booze.
In an art imitating life, imitating art moment, the savvy brains at George at Asda have jumped on the bandwagon and produced their own shoot in the aisles of Asda. The food may not be Chanel, but it is real.
While George may not be able to get Cara, Rihanna and Joan on board (they're busy girls, you know), we think these stand-ins look pretty great in the supermarket's spring collection. The only thing missing was an A-list FROW.
Helen Low, head of design for George at Asda said: 'If Chanel can do it, so can George. After all, we bring the latest trends straight from the catwalk to our customers every single day at a fraction of the designer price tag. With the looks and models to compete with the Parisian catwalks, we've shown Rihanna that she’s not the 'Only Girl In The World' who can pull off supermarket chic.'
Whether George is a rival to Chanel, we'll let you decide. Either way it's definitely brought a smile to our faces today…
