The X Factor 2015 judges were finally confirmed yesterday, but in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, Simon and Cheryl will be joined by previous guest judge Rita Ora and Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw to scout out the nation’s hidden superstar.
Rita’s rumoured £1million pay packet for appearing on the series is definitely impressive, but we’re more interested in the supposedly unlimited clothing budget that comes with it. If anyone’s going to make the most of having designer BFFs on call, it’s Rita, and we can’t wait to see who she’ll wear over the series.
Rita is no stranger to fashion forward choices – back in 2012 the Poison singer wore an all-white ensemble and orange two-piece suit for her stint as a guest judge. With friends like Jeremy Scott at Moschino and Henry Holland, we’re bound to be treated to quirky, bright choices in cheeky prints. Henry will almost definitely do double duty dressing Grimmy too, as the trio are all close friends. If Rita really wants to push style boundaries, underground Aussie brand Discount Universe have some serious sparkle and 90s styling that would no doubt have viewers complaining – think Ashish, times ten. Pucci and Mary Katrantzou could bring the print factor with 60s optical illusions and bold florals, while Christopher Kane is a slightly safer option to dress X Factor’s latest fashion icon.
But could The X Factor give Rita the chance to go glam? Atelier Versace and Julien Macdonald have been long-time Rita faves, and those floor-sweeping sequined gowns would be perfect for the live shows. We’d put money on Rita wearing at least one ‘nude’ dress too – with a body like that, why not show it off?! Maybe she could support boyfriend Ricky’s Dad Tommy Hilfiger with some chic tailoring? It’s all about the suit-bra combo, don’t you know.
Nick Grimshaw is also set to spice up the menswear on the show, thanks to a recent collaboration with Topman set to launch in the Autumn. It’s been high-waisted trousers and low cut white shirts for too long, so we’re hoping Grimmy will be sporting his signature super-skinny jeans and patterned silk shirts. We predict a lot of Burberry and Saint Laurent, too.
