Style and comfort rarely come together in fashion, particularly when the subject is footwear.
And it was this style/comfort conundrum that Kat Maconie was determined to resolve when she created her first range of ballet pumps. Having spent the early days of her career as a stylist's assistant dashing around Soho's streets in search of trims and fabric or on her feet at shoots all day, she became aware of the serious lack of comfortable, but truly fashionable footwear.
Kat's debut collection features design-lead styles with exquisite detailing in softest suede and leather. There's a golden serpent which snakes around the ankle instead of a strap, metallic edging and two-tone styles. There's something very Audrey Hepburn about the elegant shapes of these shoes; wear with cigarette pants or skinny jeans for instant style perfection.
But the hidden secret of these pretty pumps is in the ergonomic sole which we last spotted in a clumpy pair of orthopaedic shoes stocked by our local chemist! Kat's footwear contains a 'mould to measure' insole that remembers the shape of the wearer's foot and is designed to support every step she takes.
Definitely our new favourite shoes...
Kat Maconie's footwear starts at £89 and is available at Poste Mistress and Harvey Nichols. Go to katmaconie.com to check out the full collection.
