In the year of the Royal wedding, it’s no surprise designers are being inspired by all things majestic. Jaeger London’s design director, Stuart Stockdale, leads the way next season with the sharp tailoring and country tweeds that make up his autumn/winter range, which will show at London Fashion Week on Saturday 19 February.
Just check out this gorgeous drawing, given exclusively to InStyle, featuring on-trend wide-leg trousers in houndstooth, a printed top and to-die-for sleeveless floor-length coat! The designer revealed to us: “Inspiration this season has been found in the depths of Kensington Palace's archive and its fantastic legacy of past royalty and courtiers, including the Duke of Windsor’s wardrobe. The exquisite detailing, sartorial elegance and authenticity of these pieces are extracted and made modern. Building on Jaeger's long-standing reputation, the great winter coat is central to the collection.”
With The King’s Speech destined for Oscar glory, Madonna’s forthcoming film on Wallis Simpson (the American fashionista and socialite for whom Prince Edward abdicated the throne) due out in April and of course Prince William and Kate Middleton’s lavish royal nuptials happening in the same month, we’re in for a spring jam-packed with regal fashion!
