In the final installment of fashion’s Spring Summer 2013 foray, Paris Fashion Week, designers including Dries Van Noten, Rochas and Gareth Pugh kicked things off with a sartorial bang in the French capital.
Dries Van Noten saw Spring Summer 2013 as the season to give grunge a good rep with the 90s aesthetic turned around with couture-style detailing. Plaids of burgundy, cobalt blue and forest green came in organza, taffeta and lamé and were layered with oversized cashmere sweaters, textured skirts and contrasting prints to make the front row swoon.
Showcasing a more surreal style, Gareth Pugh gave models including Jourdan Dunn reddened eyes and jutting headpieces to complement the violent tone of his Spring Summer 2013 collection. Blood red, raw silver and ivory white were added to Pugh’s customary black colour palette with fringing and web-like detailing causing much delight.
Slinky silvers moved into inky blacks before switching to preppy reds and romantic prints at Rochas. Cute collars, full skirts and high-waisted bikinis gave a 50s spin to 90s-style camisoles and all-white boxing boots. Stylish separates and want-to-wear dresses made Rochas version of Spring Summer 2013 one we’ll all want to invest in.
And with Balenciaga, Carven, Balmain and Lanvin all hitting the catwalk today, we’re sure there’s a lot more we’ll be lusting over by the end of the day!
