The idea for having a bunch of celebrities design some T-shirts for charity began in New York where DKNY donated profits from their Chari-Tee sales to five causes. The designated charities were all New York based, with the idea being that the NY label was repaying the inspiration that New York gives to DKNY. Now to celebrate their 20th birthday DKNY have launched the international version, with proceeds going to the children's charity Operation Smile.
Operation Smile operates in 51 countries across the globe treating children with cleft palates and helping to 'heal their smiles' and since their launch in 1982 have helped over 130,000 children. As Donna Karan said 'the best philanthropy has style. Chari-Tee is one of my favourites, because you get to wear your heart on your sleeve".
Well no one can deny that these t-shirts have style, and if we're donating to charity at the same time then there's no excuse not to buy one! The funky black and white tees, pictured here with make-up artist Charlotte Tibury backstage at the DKNY show are available in DKNY stores now.
