Diesel’s Artistic Director, Nicola Formichetti, has just launched his first capsule collection for the coveted denim label, and he’s reworking some brand classics for the cause.
Dipping back into the Diesel archives, Nicola has taken inspiration from past collections for the new male and female line, named #DIESELTRIBUTE.
To celebrate the launch, we’ve got our hands on a first look at one of the hero pieces.
The DIESELTRIBUTE Denim Gilet (£500) captures his vision perfectly, embellished with rebellious studs and classic brand patches.
Talking about his inspiration, Nicola told us: ‘It was a mixture of archive pieces, old patches and studs, and old denim pieces. I patched worked all the history into one capsule collection.
‘It was pure love - patch working 35 years of history into a collection is very nice. This is a teaser before I present my main collection in March.’
Nicola teamed up with photographer Nick Knight to produce a stunning set of campaign pictures, shot entirely on an iPhone.
From here, Nicola will prepare to launch his first full collection for Diesel. I want my show in March to be a new departure, to be something different and new. I want to break the rules of fashion,’ he says.
The DIESELTIBUTE collection is available now, and to celebrate it’s launch, Nicola will appear at the Diesel Covent Garden Store on 8 November to meet and greet fans from 4pm.
