Hakaan, who took London Fashion Week by storm last February, has won the prestigious ANDAM Award.
Let's rewind shall we? Back in February of this year, on the first day of London Fashion Week the virtually unknown Turkish designer Hakaan made his debut and with it brought a mad crazy hype.
Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Imogen Morris and Abbey Lee strutted their stuff for him on the catwalk. Kate Moss arrived to sit front row and, lo and behold, Carine Roitfeld flew from Paris for the occasion. We knew right there and then Hakaan was one to watch, and we were right!
The ANDAM foundation is based in Paris and is designed to champion French and international designers. The cream of LFW have won the prize three years in a row - Giles Deacon won last year and Gareth Pugh received it back in 2008.
There was tough competition for the designer - Mark Fast in particular was a strong contender for the prestigious award. Hakaan will receive a prize of 220,000 euros but he has to move his fashion week show to Paris.
Damn! We were looking forward to September to see what he had to offer us here in London, but we look forward to seeing what he comes up with across the Channel.
