Coco Rocha has opened up about the fashion industry's use of 'plus size' models – and how she hates using that phrase.
Speaking to Page Six backstage at the Herve Leger show at New York Fashion Week, the 25-year-old model said: 'I don’t like that fact that we’re saying they’re ‘plus-size.’ I think models are models.'
'Models are supposed to be a muse to you,' continued Coco, who has herself taken to the catwalk for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Emanuel Ungaro.
'Why is a muse always the same body type, the same look? It’s boring. It’s about time we’re mixing it up,' she added.
But maybe this is the season Coco will get her wish: IMG signed up five new models to its A-list roster this season – all of whom do not fit the traditional tiny model measurements.
While we've yet to see how many designers cast IMG's new girls in their shows, which include Ashley Graham, Danielle Redman, Inga Eirksdottir, Julie Henderson, and Marquita Pring, it's definitely a step in the right direction.
