Coast have been busy raiding the V&A's archives to get inspiration for a new capsule dress collection to commemoration the museum's recent Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950 exhibition.
Modelled by the gorgeous Suki Waterhouse the dresses are dubbed after '50s debutantes: Blanche, Lottie, Phoebe, Patience, Cecily and Daphne, though each corresponds to a different fashion moment from last century.
The dresses use couture techniques inspired the artistry seen in the museum's exhibition. The lemon-hued Daphne dress takes inspiration from the iconic silhouettes of vintage '50s Balenciaga and Valentino, while the Patience is modern meets flapper, in a beautiful bias cut with intricate panelling.
Coast design director Kim Elliot says, "It was incredible to have access to the V&A's amazing and inspirational collection to create the Coast Ballgown Collection. We felt truly inspired and very lucky to have this opportunity to delve into the glamorous past to create modern day glamour”.
Prices start from £550, the collection is in selected Coast stores and online now.
