Christopher Bailey celebrates his new role as Burberry CEO, following Angela Ahrendts' departure to Apple
Christopher Bailey will replace Angela Ahrendts as chief executive officer of Burberry, to be held in conjunction with his current role as chief creative officer, as she announces her departure this morning.
Angela is expected to step down from her top position at the British fashion house by mid-2014, as she goes on to assume the role of senior vice president for retail and online stores at Apple.
True to his modest character, Christopher will maintain his current title at the brand, explaining he felt “humbled to be asked to take on the CEO role at this company that means so much to me. I also feel privileged to be keeping my role as chief creative officer.”
The Yorkshire-born designer has been at Burberry since 2001, where he’s worked alongside Angela for over a decade to craft the coveted label we all know and love today.
There’s no doubt the duo are set for equal success as they part ways next year.
