While some fashion houses went for high drama, for Spring Summer 2013, Chanel was a breath of fresh air as giant wind turbines sprouted out from the runway inside the Grand Palais. With air and lightness as the watchwords for the fashion collection, for Karl Lagerfeld this is a season of both optimism and sheer elegance.
Staying true to the fashion house's aesthetic, the fashion show opened with a monochrome story as boxy, cropped jackets, dresses and skirts festooned with gobstopper pearls and diamante bourbles sailed down the vast runway. Exquisite column dresses followed, adorned with lashings of scattered pearls. And then came the colour. A mouthwatering array of pastel hued cropped jackets topping trapeze dresses, sequinned petals splashed across tube dresses, while the house's traditional boucle tweed twinsets were given a summer makeover in delicate pinks and blues.
Punctuated by beats from live electronic band Chromatics, Chanel eased into the playfulness of the summer season, asfloral petal bell sleeved organza and chiffon dresses and trousers glided down the catwalk carried by stacked striped block wedge sandal espadrilles.
A vast and at times, epic collection, the fashion house did what they do best and created every girl's dream wardrobe.
But it’s not over yet! With collections from Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu to come, stay tuned to InStyle.co.uk to get the latest news and pictures.
