Marc Jacobs, who showed his Forties-chic mainline collection the day before yesterday, kept the spirit of the Seventies alive for autumn/winter with his range of midi-length skirts and A-line skirts in autumnal earth tones. His retro-inspired accessories were typically drool-worthy and included felt fedoras (check out Alexa Chung rocking a similar one in NYC) and animal-printed handbags.
Like DVF, the Mulleavy sisters at Rodarte were inspired by the American prairies. With A-listers including Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst seated in the front row, they paraded ankle-grazing coats and gowns decorated with wheat-field prints to elegant effect, and even included a sparkly sequinned skirt inspired by the Kansas based film, The Wizard of Oz.
Meanwhile, Max Azria updated the celebrity-favourite bandage dress for Herve Leger's autumn/winter line with a smattering of sequins and even lengthened the hemlines, turning them into more elegant maxi-dresses. We love!
Finally Tibi, whose frocks are constantly seen on Olivia Palermo and the cast of Gossip Girl, unveiled a perfectly-pretty line-up of gold and red party frocks. That solves next season’s Christmas party dress dilemma!
Today we can’t wait to check out Michael Kors new instalment of jet-set chic clothes, Milly by Michelle Smith (also a reoccurring favourite on Gossip Girl) and Elie Tahari.
