Robert Pattinson: first, actor. Then, musician. Now, fashion designer?!
That’s right, R-Patz has done a Kanye and has been low-key designing his own range for the past ‘two years’. But unlike Kanye’s Yeezy collab with Adidas, this is no high-profile clothing collaboration. Robert is going it alone with an independent collection for both men and women. Interesting.
Speaking to Numero magazine, R-Patz revealed the totally unexpected news, spilling ‘I’ve been visiting producers and craftsmen. There’s already quite a few pieces. I love doing it’. Already quite a few pieces?! What is this clothing collection going to look like?
Well, Robert seems to be inspired by ‘the cities I go to, sourcing fabrics and local skills’. Splitting his time between his hometown of London and living in LA with his fiancé FKA Twigs, Robert does denim and workwear across the pond, switching it for wool and knitwear in England.
‘What I do is pretty multifaceted’ Rob continued, ‘But I’m not going into too much detail, I don’t want to jinx anything…’.
Talk about leaving us hanging… There’s definitely going to be a while to wait before we get to see this now hugely anticipated line, but will it follow the likes of these celebrity clothing lines?
Kanye West, Yeezy
Kanye West’s Yeezy takes over New York Fashion Week every season, and while the other designers might not be happy about it, it’s the show to be at. Yeezy Season 3 filled Madison Square Garden with around 1,000 models and his family, clad in custom Olivier Rousteing x Kanye.
Rihanna, Manolo Blahnik
After four River Island collections inspired by RiRi’s personal-style, Rihanna is dipping her toe (literally) back into fashion design, collaborating with Manolo Blahnik on an all-denim shoe line. Have you SEEN that 9-5 boot?!
Beth Ditto, Plus-Size Range
Speaking of doing it on their own, after a hugely successful range with Evans, Beth Ditto is set to launch her own range of curvy girl clothing, and it’s so cool. You can see the Beth Ditto fashion collection here, and shop it at Selfridges now…
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row
The Olsen twins have completed their career switch-up from tween sensations to serious fashion designers, heading up both The Row (a fashion editor’s favourite) and Elizabeth & James, named after their siblings.
