Shoe designer Sophia Webster is among the winners of the British Fashion Council's intiative
Sophia Webster has been announced as one of the three lucky winners to be awarded the Mayor of London and British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward prize.
The shoe designer, along with womenswear designers J.JS Lee and Nasir Mashar, will be supported by the Council for two consecutive seasons, AW14 and SS15. This means that for the first time EVER, J. JS Lee will open London Fashion Week, with a highly-anticipated show at 9am in the BFC Courtyard Show Space on Friday 14 February.
Nasir Mazhar will then show his collection on the same day at 4pm at the BFC Courtyard Show Space and Sophia Webster will present her collection from 10.30 – 12.30pm on Sunday 16th February in Covent Garden. Exciting!
Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council tells us: 'Jackie, Nasir and Sophia have come through the ranks and couldn’t be more deserving of this level of recognition. Each of them has a very distinctive design aesthetic, their visions very different from one another, however together they very much share the limelight that is shining on London right now.'
We couldn't agree more.
Fashion Forward was established in 2009 and sees the winners provided with the funds to present their collections. It's judged by a panel of key industry experts, including Caroline Issa, and Caroline Rush, plus key journalist and industry execs.
Congrats, guys. Boy, are we excited to see the shows.
