Break-ups are never easy. Whether you've been together two months, two years or even longer, whether or not it's your decision is irrelevant—it'll still hurt.

Regardless of who did the dumping, once you find yourself free and single once again, it's the perfect time to pay attention to you. If you've given up a hobby because it didn't fit in with your relationship, take it up again. If there's something you've always wanted to try but have never had the time to do, make it the top of your priority list. Try to see your hard break-up for what it really is—a chance to reconnect with yourself and find out what you really want from your life. And that's a powerful position to find yourself in.

However, even the most pulled-together woman can find herself in a cold sweat at the thought of bumping into her ex on a night out. Or, what might be even scarier, meeting someone new.

While there's certainly more important things to think about once you've found yourself single, how you look is definitely a major stress. However, it needn't be.

In what's been one of the worst years for break-ups in Hollywood history, countless A-list ladies have embraced their new found singledom with serious fashion savvy. It goes without saying that feeling good about yourself will infinitely help your mood (and help with that stomach-wrenching feeling of having to cross paths with your ex at a wedding or mutual pal's party) so, as shallow as it may should, what you wear post-break-up is actually super important.

Take tips from the stars on how to turn that heartbreak into the most stylish phase of your life. And trust us, there's plenty of inspo to be had in that department...

Show them EXACTLY what they're missing
Case in point: Perrie Edwards
The latest celebrity break-up to rock 2015 is of course Zayn Mailk and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, who called off their engagement. However, Perrie's not wasting any time looking HAWT. Following that snap of her insane bikini bod, Perrie took to Instagram to show off her latest look—a sheer hem dress with a sexy body underneath. It's not the most subtle post-break-up outfit, but it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Don't be afraid to embrace new styles
Case in point: Charlize Theron
Charlize is no stranger to colour, but after her split from actor-director Sean Penn, the actress changed things up with this floaty number, casting aside her penchant for structured dresses in the process. Changing up your style, no matter how briefly you embrace your new look, will definitely get people's (and probably his) attention.

If in doubt, keep it tame but ever-so-slightly flirty
Case in point: Sienna Miller
Sienna ensured all eyes were on her at Wimbledon in this subtly sexy white jumpsuit. The clean tailored cut and wide trousers totally offset the plunging neckline and low back, making this outfit anything but try-hard. News of her split from musician Tom Sturridge came a couple of days later.

Allow yourself to wear the one piece you previously never thought you could
Case in point: Nicole Kidman
When Nicole was married to Tom Cruise (who, we need not tell you, is pretty short) she was confined to flats at all times. However, after the pair divorced, the 5' 11" star found out that after all those years, she actually really loves heels, and has rarely been seen wearing flatties since. Bravo, Nicole!

Stick it to them (and keep busy)...
Case in point: Liberty Ross
After news broke that her film director husband Rupert Sanders had had an affair with actress Kristen Stewart, the last thing Liberty wanted to do was mope around the house. Instead, she bagged herself a killer selection of mini dresses and went to every single event she could to rub her hotness in their faces, and has since become a fashion icon once again. Proof that becoming a cat lady is going to do you NO favours...

Find your new style signature
Case in point: Jennifer Aniston
Life after Brad was pretty great for Jen—not only did she win herself countless awards for her role in The Good Girl, but the actress honed in on a style that was set to become her signature. Above-the-knee dresses with a kick-flare hem and a racer back neckline have since become her go-to, showing off the best parts of her figure in the process. Jen, we salute you.
