The singer is set to collaborate with one of her favourite shoes designers, Guiseppe Zanotti
If there's one woman who knows good shoes, it's Beyoncé. And so the news that the singer is set to collaborate with legendary footwear designer Guiseppe Zanotti was music to our ears this morning.
But before you get too excited, this sadly won't be a full collection. In fact, Zanotti said Bey will be designing just 'one shoe.' (Don't worry, we're confident that 'one shoe' means there will be one for each foot - designers prefer not to speak in the plural.)
No word yet on what the shoe(s) will look like, but Zanotti was clear that Bey 'has very clear ideas – she knows exactly what she wants'.
'The thing which she then also has over other celebrities, is that she has an amazing voice,' the designer told Forbes magazine. 'She's incredibly talented and she's an amazing dancer – she's complete. Few are like Beyoncé. I'm working on finalizing the shoe with her stylist right now. And Beyoncé will then say what she likes and what she doesn't like. It will be one shoe only.'
Beyonce has long been a fan of Zanotti's vertiginous heels, and wore custom pairs by the designer on her Mrs Carter World Tour. And although Zanotti also creates flats and other more practical examples of footwear, something tells us that Queen Bey is going to have something slightly more standout in mind for her first foray into shoe design.
But this isn't Bey's first move into fashion. Last October it was announced that the singer and Topshop had struck up a business deal to create a new branch of the hight street store, named Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd, which will be the home to Queen B's 'athletic street-wear brand.'
So watch out Kanye, because it looks like you're not the only singer whose set on fashion domination…
