Two-tone jeans have been the denim Insta-staple of summer 2016. Quelle surprise, it was Vetementsthe place for ‘it’ pieces over the last few seasons (the dress, the anorak, the DHL t-shirt) — that gave the classic mom-ish fit the much-hyped rework.

Cue: Levi's Wedgies being ousted from social media to make way for the Parisian brand's panelled style (£790, Browns) and Frame's Le Mix pair (£425, My Theresa).

They tick all the Instagram trend boxes. They’re recognizable — #like. They're cut at a good ankle-skimming length — making them perfect for a pair of backless loafers or a metallic ankle boot). And they’re pleasantly high-waisted — not too high so you can’t tuck anything in, and not so low that you risk a circa 1998 hip flash (… It worked for Britney but categorically un-chic).

If you're wondering how to style them, the good thing is they're no trickier than your average jean. Short of double panelling, a bit of a Canadian tuxedo overkill, you can work them into your usual wardrobe — t-shirts, bombers, thick knits, loafers, ankle boots. For a smarter look, wear them with a shirt. Thanks to Camille Charriere and Pernille Teisbaek, shirt styling is the topic of our mornings — tucked in/out/both, backwards/forwards, finished with a bow… etc.

Now the Instabait styles have gone internet-wide, so we’ve rounded up the best to shop now (for all budgets and shapes)…
