BAFTA Best Dressed: Our Favourite Red Carpet Looks Of The Night

BAFTA Best Dressed: Our Favourite Red Carpet Looks Of The Night

You’ve seen all the looks, but whose outfits got our fashion team’s attention on the red carpet last night?

Most statuesque

Lea Seydoux in Prada

A Grecian-style gown never fails on the red carpet, but add in a few cut-out details on the waist and a fresh golden shade of yellow, and you’re onto a real winner. Teamed with a red lip, this is old school Hollywood glamour at its very best.

Best showstopper

Julianne Moore in Tom Ford

Even before she picked up the Bafta for Leading Actress, she already looked like the cat who got the cream in this slinky Tom Ford number. InStyle’s fashion director Arabella Greenhill says “She's always so brave in her colour choices, and as a fellow red-head I really admire that”.

Best way of keeping warm

Keira Knightly in Giambattista Valli and Balenciaga

Pregnancy seems to make her even more glamorous; this gorgeous Giambattista Valli creation will go down in sartorial history as contributing to one of the best dressed bumps on the red carpet ever. But the thing we loved most was that Keira casually slung her favourite Balenciaga biker jacket over the whole thing. Totally cool (and totally warm, too).

Best modern elegance

Felicity Jones in Dior Couture

InStyle’s cover girl just can’t get it wrong at the moment, and she’s totally nailed modern red carpet dressing in this Dior ensemble.  “Felicity keeps it simple” says Arabella “yet always very modern. This is the perfect choice for her”.

Best wedding inspo

Laura Bailey in Emilia Wickstead

Calling all modern brides! We’ve found your perfect dress! It’s part T-shirt (the top half), part couture (the skirt), so is comfortable as well as being totally elegant. What's not to love?

One to watch

Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Prada

She might have missed out on the EE Rising Star Award to Jack O’Connell, but catapulting onto our style radar last night was Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Prada. We predict that we’ll be cooing over far more red carpet looks from this lovely lady in the coming year.

Best fairytale frock

Laura Haddock in Ashi Studio

It’s so easy to get frothy tulle wrong, but Laura Haddock got it spot on in this dreamy one-off dress. The shade of off-white is absolutely perfect against her skin. “Romance is a big trend for s/s2015” says Arabella “and this is the ultimate fairytale dress”.

Most practical

Romola Garai in Roksanda

OK, so it might not be as head-turning as a full-length gown made of tulle, but here’s why we love Romola Garai’s Roksanda outfit: there’s none of this bare arms madness (it has sleeves, and last night it was COLD) and it’s separates, so she could totally mix it up with the rest of her wardrobe (imagine that skirt with a white T-shirt and flats!!).
