Mills & Boon

Mills & Boon's first adult colouring book

Mills & Boon

Anxiety is an unruly beast. It doesn’t wait for an invitation with a polite tap on the door. It drop kicks many of us with little warning - in our experience, usually at rush hour, face-rammed into some dude’s sweaty armpit on the Piccadilly line.

So when UK stationary retailer WHSmith announced an 11% jump in pre-tax profits this year due to strong sales in 'adult activity books, such as colour therapy, extreme dot-to-dot and querkles', we weren't exactly surprised.

The colouring book market has exploded over recent years and is now a popular mindfulness tool for adults who are overwhelmed with modern life. What’s more, publishers are coming up with increasingly unique designs to help us all de-stress and pick up the felt tip pens.

Bodice-ripping publisher Mills & Boon celebrated 100 years of iconic covers with its first-ever colouring book, The Art of Romance. Charting the history of romance throughout the 20th century, fans can colour in 47 vintage cover illustrations – from the birth of a royal baby, to the swinging sixties and even the rise of the nineties rom-com.

Not only are we loving the vintage vibes - it's got us thinking about some other best sellers we're keen to try. Who says colouring books are just for kids? Let’s take a look at some of the wackiest...
