Antoni & Alison’s free bag in aid of National Recycle Week looks set to inspire the sort of fash riots last provoked by Anya Hindmarch’s I Am Not a Plastic Bag.
It was handbags at dawn when Anya Hindmarch sold her limited-edition "I Am Not a Plastic Bag" tote at Sainsbury's two years ago, which quickly inspired a slew of dodgy imitations.
Now cult design duo Antoni & Alison have gone one better by creating an impossible-to-copy shopper - made from 100 per cent PET (the plastic used to make fizzy pop bottles) - and they're darn near giving it away.
Just get thee to a branch of Tesco before 9 June, drop mere pennies on a couple of bottles of Fanta - think of it as a fashion investment, or serve it as your main bev at an impromptu Eighties party (of which we throw at least two a week) - and lo, as your uncle is Bob, so you take ownership of a limited-edition designer tote.
Top popstrel VV Brown, whose cool vintage style we so want to steal, already has one of the bags.
We were sold when we saw the bag's cute design, but fell in love when Antoni explained, "To us this is a perfect POP piece". A fizzy drink... a top ten singer... oh, pop. Hee!
