We assumed it was a dead cert that Anne Hathaway would arrive at the Oscars in a dress by her close friend Valentino Garavani, but she surprised fashion fans by stepping out in a pale-pink satin Prada number.
It's now come to light that the backless dress was a last minute choice by Anne and her stylist, Rachel Zoe, called in after Anne discovered that the Valentino gown she'd chosen was extremely similar to another guest's gown.
The Best Supporting Actress winner told People: "'It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans."
She elaborated: "I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself."
It may of been a last minute fashion choice, but Anne looked no less stunning as a result. The satin finish and baby-pink hue have caused the dress to draw comparisons to the Ralph Lauren gown Gwyneth Paltrow wore to take her Best Actress prize in 1999, and completed with her Audrey Hepburn inspired hairstyle, her look had winner written all over it.
Who is the lady in question who rocked a doppelganger of Anne's first choice dress, we wonder? Tell us on Twitter which other Oscars dress you think Anne could of rocked.
