To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the wrap dress, Diane Von Furstenberg threw a snazzy cocktail party to launch her wrap dress exhibition and her latest memoir. Here's what we learned...
She's got a really cool girl gang
It may have only been a Thursday night but Diane's friends and fans were out in force, with many wearing DVF of course. "She is a really old friend, so my relationship with Diane is beyond fashion," Laura Bailey told us. "Her clothes have been a marker of time in my life, especially when I was pregnant, as they really suit curvy girls. For me tonight is about Diane's celebration of women , freedom and power." Elsewhere, we spotted Bianca Jagger, Ellie Goulding, Dasha Zhukova, Lara Mullen, Noor Fares while Paula Goldstein Di Principe and Valentine Fillol-Cordier hit the decks. Who wouldn't want to hang out with that ecelectic and rather fabulous mix!
Her art collection is major
Alongside numerous images of Diane from back in the day looking like a mega babe, (FYI she still does today) there were also pieces from Diane's personal collection. Think photographs from Peter Lindbergh, Francesco Scavullo, Helmut Newton and Joel Meyerowitz. Plus it proves her wrap dresses themselves are works of art, with two of her intricately printed Archive Silk Jersey Jumpsuits from 1974 on display.
She loves a jigsaw puzzle
It's been a busy month for Diane, what with releasing her latest memoir, curating her Journey of A Dress exhibition and launching her reality TV show House of DVF. Just thinking about it all makes us tired. So what are Diane's secrets to switching off? Jig saw puzzles. Yep the fashion legend, told us when she can't sleep she whips out her iPad where she has a special app that turns her favourite photos in puzzles to complete. Her latest? A photo of her youngest grandson. How sweet!
