The red carpet at Viktor & Rolf

No, that’s not the red carpet leading into the show, but the red carpet that the models wore down the catwalk (which was also a red carpet). The entire collection was made up of red dresses and shoes with a flocked texture, but it remains to be seen if any A-listers will run with the joke and wear one to the Oscars.

The quality FROW

The calibre of celebrities at couture is always top notch, and this season we were treated to the likes of Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart at the shows. Charlize Theron turned up at Dior in gold (just like in the advert) with Sean Penn on her arm, rock royalty J-Lo and Pink were in Paris too, and we’re ALWAYS happy when Jared Leto is involved.

Flats are the future

Couture is the glitziest of all fashion weeks, with an audience of customers ready to spend serious money on jaw-dropping dresses. These coiffured, chauffeured ladies usually arrive in heels (they don’t actually have to walk anywhere) but this season they embraced flats. Never before has the FROW at couture been filled with so many Birkenstocks and trainers, and flats appeared on the catwalk at Valentino and Chanel, too.

Dior was delightful

Dior’s designer Raf Simons has been a roaring success since he took over the reigns of the brand in 2012. This beautiful collection was no exception to the rule, with some critics citing it as his best yet. Gorgeous.

Emma Watson’s wardrobe

It was a week when Emma Watson looked well and truly, well, grown up. Dressed mostly in black she graced couture in a succession of slick, chic outfits. Our favourite was this romantic rock ‘n’ roll Valentino get up; we love that she finished the look with red shoes.

80s hair at Chanel

Ladies, it’s time to backcomb your fringe and wear a tiny cap on the back of your head, just like in the Eighties. This is a look that a certain features editor - who shall remain nameless - sported while dancing to the likes of Neneh Cherry and Black Box at her school disco in 1989. She’s not going to lie – she’s tempted to revisit it.

Conchita at Jean Paul Gaultier

When Conchita Wurst spectacularly won the Eurovision Song Contest representing Austria in May, she probably never imagined that just two months later, she’d be closing the Jean Paul Gaultier couture show in a black, red and gold “wedding” dress. And pretty spectacular she looked, too.

Kim Kardashian at Valentino

It wasn’t so much Kim that caught our eye here, more her generously low cut dress. This was a detail not lost on the fashion editors at the show, who posted endless pictures of her, um, assets on Instagram.

Headscarves at Giambattista Valli

These might be the autumn couture collections, but that headscarf/sunglasses combo at Giambattista Valli just got us rethinking our holiday wardrobes. Pair with a loose shirt dress and flat sandals; it doesn’t get much more chic than that.

High end maternity wear

Getting married? Heavily pregnant? Then head to Chanel for your wedding dress! Karl Lagerfeld closed the show with pregnant model Ashleigh Good on his arm, who looked stunning in this caped dress.
