A sunset yellow maxi dress with a vintage floral print from Self-Portrait is set to be the dress of next season. That's according to Net-a-Porter who at their bi-annual trends presentation revealed that this offering from the NY based brand Self-Portrait has been their number one spend across their 'dresses' category for next season.

Retailing at £425, the dress ticks a number of desirable boxes including key trends with both yellow and floral prints set to be huge for spring summer 2018 alongside its ruffle neck and off-the-shoulder detailing. Meanwhile its full length makes it suitable for a myriad of summer occasions including weddings, the races and garden parties. At £425 it's certainly not cheap but with a high attention to design detail and the fact that it will also look just as good come colder months with a roll-neck layered underneath or paired with boots and a chunky knit makes this a good investment buy for savvy shoppers who are shortly set to no doubt start adding their names to a waiting list.

'Dresses' is one of the best-selling sections on the site and for next season, Net-a-Porter's Retail Fashion Director, Lisa Aiken explained that we can expect to see a return to a much more glamourous and sexy way of dressing for evening time. As one of the fastest growing categories on the site, Aiken attributes much of this desire for statement pieces to Saint Laurent where for SS18 Anthony Vaccarello showed a super sexy and shimmering collection including velvet bomber jackets and feather encrusted boots. As for Net-a-Porter they will shortly launch on site a sequinned mini-dress from the brand that is set to retail for £12,800. And whilst most of us will laugh and say can you imagine clicking add to basket on that, Net-a-Porter are confident that will sell just like similar pieces have done in the past.

Elsewhere, the retailer also revealed that fashion's current tailoring obsession has accounted for 30% of their AW17 sales and to date they have so far sold over 6,000 blazers. According to Aiken, the blazer has universal appeal as it's an easy way to make a fashion statement without being complex. It's also completely versatile working from boardroom to bar and for next season unsurprisingly shows no sign of slowing down with blazers once again seen all over the runways including Chloe, Off-White and Tibi who this time focused on linen fabrics and more summery colour palettes. Meanwhile, the much loved basket bag trend is also set to return once again for warmer days. A woven version from Loewe set to retail at £290 is already being touted as a major hit.

And finally, Net-a-Porter have also tipped Acne as one to watch with the launch of their first stand-alone bag collection. Featuring four silhouettes it of course includes their signature pink colourway which it turns out outsells black, white and greys across Acne's ready-to-wear collection. Expect to see it swinging from a millennial's arm near you soon.
