Why? Because he’s dead.
That’s right, if your birthday falls in October, you may be in for a fright this year as Colin the Caterpillar has had a serious makeover. Now going by the name of Count Colin, this once cute and delicious cake is now less cute, more frightening, and - still delicious.
Before you ask, yes a Halloween cake is necessary.
The new ‘spookified’ Colin (£7) has embraced the vampy look with creepy fangs, a Dracula collar, and a coat drizzled in red icing (read: blood). He’s even donned some seriously scary statement black boots. Shivers, right?
Picnic season may be over but trick or treat season is just creeping up on us. To keep Colin company (you know, for the kids), you can feast out with Percy Pumpkins (£1.65) - yes, the makeover has caught fire in M&S - and of course, some miniature Count Collins (£2). Come October, we’ll also be on the lookout for vampire fangs, freaky frogs and zombie owls haunting the shelves…
So, really, there’s no excuse, this year you can finally be fully prepared for trick or treaters (and not have to sit in the dark flinching at the sound of footsteps). Plus, you now have the perfect centre-piece to create an entire Pinterest inspired Halloween party around. This year, you go hard.
The M&S Halloween range will be available to buy next month.
