It’s goodbye millennial pink and hello to the lilac hour. While pastels were the wash of choice across the Spring Summer ’18 fashion shows, the lilac hue was one that stood out above the rest. An update on last year's pink, lavender has a more modern, sophisticated feel, and after seeing the below edit, you too will want to be head to toe.
Victoria Beckham kicked it all off with a SS18 collection which oozed feminine luxury in the form of super-smart tonal tailoring. Skinny pants and oversized blazers in her signature style were all lilac, with silky slips in the same hue to offer a contrast. Also at the New York shows was Tibi, with almost every other model head-to-toe in lilac. Leading the Tibi charge was a simple sporty look of long shorts and an oversized knit, followed by plunging tailoring and silky evening gowns finished with ruffling.
But what’s out there right now that you can get your hands on? Everyone, from Vetements and Hillier Bartley right down to Mango and H&M, has bought into this colour trend. The key to keeping it Vetements-level cool, no matter what your budget, is to keep it super simple. A plain cashmere jumper – like the ones below from Zara and Joostricot – with a plain block colour tailored trouser will keep you looking chic.
Yes, we’d love for you to do a whole look, but if this is too much, dip into one of the sugar-coated accessories you’ll find below.
