Irina Shayk: all round mega babe and lover of the humble chicken nugget. Who. Knew. Girl crushes don’t get much bigger than this. Joshington Hosts skipped off to the set of the Replay ‘Touch’ to catch up with the super model- who is rumoured to be pregnant with Bradley Cooper’s baby- to talk going make up free, McDonalds and collecting money.
JOSHINGTON HOSTS: As the face of Replay’s ‘Touch’ campaign what is your go- to style of jeans?
IRINA SHAYK: Sexy, comfortable, it needs to feel like your second skin because you obviously don’t want to sit down and have excess skin coming over your jeans. That’s not sexy.
JH: What are you tips for getting Bootylious jeans?
IS: Choose the perfect style for your body. For my body I like high waisted jeans because they make your leg look longer and hides this extra thing on my stomach. You can eat extra food with it because it hides and I like to tuck in my t-shirts. The key is to find your own style.
JH: What would you never wear?
IS: Anything with a really low waist because I love food. You don’t want to stop by a restaurant and be wearing a crop top.
JH: Talk me through your fitness regime?
IS: I hate cardio, I hate to go for a run. I hate physical things. But Jiu Jitsu is fun because its self-defence and you get some good cardio. Pilates machine reformer- it looks simple and its really really hard. Sometimes I will just go to the gym and just stretch or swim. Just stay active. I love food- I am never on a diet- I swear to god!
JH: What’s your biggest indulgence food?
IS A chicken nugget from McDonalds* screams* with extra BBQ sauce! I love! Or chocolate. I like heavy food. In Russia we eat a lot of heavy food like potatoes and lots of meat. I can’t eat one apple or a salad a day. You wouldn’t want to come talk to me if I don’t eat. I have to eat or I am in a really bad mood. I become very Russia. You better not come near hungry.
JH: How long does it take you to get ready for a night out on the town?
IS: Ten minutes. I always put my hair in a bun. I never put on makeup or just concealer or a red lip. I hate wearing make up because I am just too lazy to take it off at night.
JH: What’s the worst hair style you have ever had?
IS: I always had a short bob with bangs and I hated it. My mum would always say ‘a short hair cut is always the way to go for you,’ I had it for fourteen years! My mum would always take me to the hairdressers and say you have to cut it- I still try to remind her of these times. It was Anna Wintour style.
JH: Have you ever tried and trend and regretted it?
IS: Small tiny eyebrows. I didn’t do it myself, my sister did it to me. She wanted thin, tiny eyebrows and wanted to try it on me first. She tweezed my eyebrows until there was nothing there. Now I am all about natural, big eyebrows.
JH: What’s the most embarrassing item of clothing still in your wardrobe?
IS: I am really bad with cleaning my closet. Even when I spend money to get something and I have something two sizes smaller I would still keep it as a memory. I have bad pyjamas which I should have trashed years ago but I kept them anyway. I sometimes go to shop in my pyjamas- I love underdress. I never wear high heels when I am just walking around, I like to be simple like sweat pants.
JH: Do you collect anything?
IS: Money. It’s very Russian. Save it. Earn it. Keep it. Own it. Work it hard. I am very smart with my money- you have to be. I don’t spend a lot of money on clothes which is weird because I am a fashion model but when it comes to the new collections coming out I am just praying designers send it to me for free. Please! I like to invest my money, not spend it.
JH: What’s the best gift you have ever received?
IS: Crocodille birkin from my friend. Riccard Tisci or Donatella always just say to me, ‘ pick what you want.’
JH: What would you invest in from this season?
IS: Givenchy bomber jacket- I like oversize clothes because its comfortable. I love mixing things so I would put a long Givenchy t-shirt with Replay jeans. Again, I don’t like to spend a lot of money on clothes because you know next season it will be out of trend or something. It’s always good to have classic pieces and just mix it.
JH: Do you ever shop on the high street?
IS: Oh yes or vintage shopping is great too. I am like so good in Topshop, I am like pushing people out of the fitting room… watch out!
JH: What’s the worst thing a man can wear?
IS: Pink or red pants! Or when men put pants up here (points to above the hip). The best thing a man can wear is when he wears confidence.
JH: Would you ever do co-ordinated couples dressing?
IS: No. Never. I would never do it. Clothes are like my worst enemy- I just like bathrobes and sweat pants.
JH: What are your tips for nailing the perfect Instagram?
IS: Be true to you. You know some models look and go to Instagram to see what’s the most popular thing to do. Instagram for me is just sharing a piece of my life and my personality- sometimes I will just post work stuff or sometimes it’s so boring so I will post something different like something personal like your friends so people can relate.
JH: How do you deal with media scrutiny?
IS: The thing is the day I decided to become a model you have to realise you are going to sacrifice your personal life a little bit because people are going to look at you. I just try to chill and not pay a lot of attention. You don’t have to take it seriously- just chill. All the media and journalists are just doing your jobs and we are doing our jobs- I never read what they write.
JH: So do you never google yourself?
IS: Sometimes I do to find my new pictures!
