What to wear to the beach... It's one of our favourite annual packing dilemmas. Not only is it heavenly to think about but it gets us excited about our upcoming holidays.
Gone are the days where a bikini and sarong was the answer, now one-pieces and kaftans are right back at the fashion forefront.
This season's swimwear offering is hard to beat. From bold prints and brights to classic block colour shapes and cuts, the bikini is looking better than ever. And the onepiece is having a moment, too, with the most more strap and cut-out designs we've seen.
Not that comfortable walking around scantily clad in neoprene and lycra? Us neither. Whether it's the dress to walk to your favourite sunbathing spot in, the shorts to throw on for lunch or the kaftan to shield your shoulders from the sun, beach cover-ups are looking better than ever - and the best bit? Most will take you seamlessly from beach to bar, should the mood arise after a day of lounging and larking.
Though beachwear in the past has been arguably questionable – remember those bandeau jersey maxi dresses and plastic totes? – but the offering is becoming seriously coverable, with more brands getting in on the action.
Lisa Marie Fernandez is our beach go-to this season, with everything from dreamy bikinis (we want them all) to beach dresses and handy toweling throw-ons. Sadly, our summer budget won’t stretch to the whole collection but there’s a whole host of chic buys on the high street.
