Festival fashion seems to the words on everyone’s lips, with summer fast approaching. And, with an endless array of festivals to choose from, there’s something on the docket for everyone.
First up for me is Field Day taking place June 6th and 7th in Victoria Park. Given the festivals location in Hackney, Field Day is a true city festival, and so calls for a city guide to dressing.
What to wear to Field Day? Well, city festival fashion is quite different from the likes of Glastonbury or Coachella, and calls for a different aesthetic. Think less Bohemian and more modern, practical looks.
Athletic wear, leather, trainers and biker boots are common place for Field Day festival fashion, and are the way to go for optimal comfort and style. I’ll be taking my style cues from the likes of Emma Roberts and Keira Knightley. Wear a shirt dress with Doc Martens for a tomboy look that will give you the comfort to run around, or a pair of dungarees so you can ride on the swings and rides carefree.
While the weekend is calling for sun and warm weather, layers at this time of year are the key to lasting the whole day. Wear a plaid shirt or statement jumper and tie it around your waist during the afternoon when the sun is out. Another option is to bring a leather rucksack to store some extra layers in – go for metallic or textured leather for something with added interest.
Don’t be afraid to invest in a nice bag or jacket for an event like Field Day because, as it’s a city festival, the pieces you can wear will be appropriate all summer long.
