Pretty florals, jumbo gingham and denim - why we're all about making the spring dress work for now...
Spring dress shopping is fun and they're hitting the shops already, looked all pretty and nice, when you and all your nice clothes are hidden under layers and layers of knitwear and wrapped up in a coat. We've all been there - peeping through the minuscule gap between your beanie and scarf, dreaming of the days when you don't immediately turn into solid ice (Frozen-style) the moment and any skin is bare.
The good news is you don't actually have to wait until warmer weather comes, as we've picked spring dresses that can be styled up and worn now. There's midi dresses that will look just as great with tights and ankle boots, as with bare legs, and there's actually a lot of sleeves about right now.
A roll neck jumper can be just the thing to layer underneath dresses with shorter arms or lower necks too.
In fact, the high street has a great dress selection right now so - more good news - you can actually buy one even if you're still feeling a bit short of cash after Christmas. Warehouse and Monki have some really pretty styles in, while our go-tos like Cos and & Other Stories are looking good too.
One thing the high street is really nailing are pretty florals. Big for SS16, the meadows and hedgerow prints are an ideal way to work a teeny (and bearable) bit of colour into a monochromatic wardrobe.
Whatever you're wanting it for - a wedding guest dress, a new weekend or work look, or just a little well-deserved present for getting through the first bit of the year, check out our edit...
