Snakeskin is one of those trends which splits opinion. For some it conjures images of glamour and elegance, and for some, well, it just doesn't.
We're not talking real snakeskin (no snakes should be harmed in the making of your wardrobe) but a snake print, a luxe snake-effect leather or, like fur, faux is fine.
For AW14, snake is the new leopard. While the latter's dot print is so familiar, almost neutral nowadays that it's being worn head-to-toe, scale textures still pack a sartorial punch with the select piece.
We saw it on the accessories and footwear at Gucci and Emilia Wickstead mixed up her collection with a full-on snakeskin coat, but it was Simone Rocha who debuted the most stand-out look with a dress, coat and shoe.
If you want to wear it loud and proud, a snakeskin-effect dress can be a chic option with simple strappy sandals, or add edge to your look with a tote or shoe.
