The sheepskin coat is a total classic.
Forget bomber jackets or denim, when it really gets cold, all you want is good old fashioned shearling.
Not only is it pretty unbeatable in the thermal stakes, but it's a huge trend right now. It was all about the statement collars at Burberry Prorsum and waistcoats at Lanvin and Roksanda. The most covetable coats were at Jil Sander, House Of Holland and Chloe; from bold contrasting chevron stripe styles to classic sheepskin.
It's all about channeling the 70s trend a la Penny Lane; throwing your shearling coats over mixed-and-matched finishes and fabrics. The palettes were kept fairly concise; with deep raspberryy shearing over magenta at Roksanda and autumnal hues at Thakoon.
This is one trend the high street has really run with but, the bad news for those of you on a budget is, sheepskin is a pricey fabric so a coat from the premium line at your go-to store can set you back over £800. We know.
Though we've been coveting Whistles' shaggy sheepskin for the last few seasons, this season Mango's timeless shaggy collar coat has caught our eye. Timeless, classic and oh-so cosy, you really can't go wrong. If you're looking to work AW15's statement shearling, look to Topshop's patchwork style.
