As if weddings aren't hard enough to dress for, with the plummeting temperatures, winter weddings are a whole new level of #outfitprobs. Say goodbye to slinky slip dresses and shorter hem lines and say hello to long sleeves, midi lengths and heavier fabrics, which actually is a totally bonus as we are all about this style RN. Just look to the London Fashion Week street style set for inspiration.
We're not ever trying to upstage the bride, but we all want that look which, without being too obvious, will stand-out in a sea of florals, which is why the statement dress is the perfect option. We fell in love with these when we saw them on the runways of Loewe, Alessandra Rich and Gucci, and couldn’t be more thrilled they’ve trickled down to the high street, too.
Here are your key style options:
The Wrap Dress:
Be it in silk or velvet, this style is one of THE most flattering for any shape. The heavier the fabric obviously the warmer, but as long as you stick to long sleeves, mid length and look for darker colours and prints, you’re good to go.

2017’s version of the Victoriana, this style is far from prim and proper. With asymmetric ruffled hems, drop waistlines and billowing sleeves. Make sure you opt for one of this season's amazing ditsy prints. My stylist's tip: clashing prints are even better.
Simple and Waisted:
If you’re after something a little more understated and demure, opt for a simple round or slight v -neck with a cinched-in waist. Again in mid length. Always mid length. Simple, chic and really flattering.
There are also some key fabrics to look out for, including velvet and corduroy. Yes, that’s right, cord dresses – take Acne’s floral print asymmetric dress, for example. The sturdier fabric means the shoulders and neckline keep their amazing unusual shape and make a real statement.
Finally, don’t go without a coat. Churches are always at least 10 degrees colder than any outside temp, guaranteed. If you’re going for all-out wedding glam then opt for something with a fuzzy neckline or cuff. Perhaps don’t go for the full faux fur coat as this may be a little Kanye West.
