Sandals are (almost) officially an acceptable form of footwear once again. After what feels like a long year in loafers and trainers, it’s nearly hot enough to bear one's toes on public transport.
Toes polished and heels buffed? Check, check. It's time to decide which summer sandal style is for you.
After pool slider heyday, more classic sandals are back. The 70s love-in is still a thing, after the obsession with Chloe’s tie-up wedge sandals and Valentino’s strappy gladiators last summer. We're all about the fun colourful cord sandals like Elena Linardaki's.
Simone Rocha and Gucci debuted some new level fugly sandals in 2015. Not just Celine-style footbed fluff but out-the-sides strands. Though arguably a little on the impractical side, we rated them - and the chunky sandal (or chandal?) thing is still happening. Marni have been doing it for ages, but Joshua Sander's giant bow sandals get our vote for cuteness.
And of course, after the Birkenstock revival, which moved onto Tevas, we're just waiting for our new practical sandal crush. (Though you still can't beat a pair of sheepskin Birks.)
Our favourite festival sandals this summer are wow tie-up sandal or the hardy classic: Dr Martens.
If a heel is what you’re after, we’re enjoying Mango's tassel block heels. They're a comfortable way to boost your height in a summer dress or culottes this summer.
