Ruffles, Knits and PVC - How I Nailed My Party Vibe

Ruffles, Knits and PVC - How I Nailed My Party Vibe

We're so over sequins and stilettos, aren't you? Junior Fashion and Beauty Stylist Hannah Lewis headed to the changing room at & Other Stories store for the ultimate Christmas party fashion haul.

I absolutely love dressing up, going out and really making an effort. I am the not the sort of fashion girl who's always in black, understated cashmere. Get me a glittery heel and I'm super happy. Saying that I don't want to look like every other person at the party. So & Other Stories, which is brilliant for one-off quirkly pieces, has become one of my go-to stores if I've got a big night out in diary. Every week I'm going to do a shopping haul at my favourite stores - this will be my first. The only issue with it has been was trying to narrow down my ultimate edit. Cue hours in the changing room. So here goes.

Outfit 1: After work drinks with the office lot

First up I was dying to wiggle into something from & Other Stories' new collaboration with Wool and the Gang. The newly launched collab includes knitted beanies, clutches, scarves and knits, but the stand-out piece for me was this red knit (pictured below). It's my new take on the Christmas jumper. So chic. The thought of getting into something skimpy in minus degrees? Really not feeling it. Here's proof that, yes, you can wear a knit on a night out. Team with a killer pair of trousers that will dress the overall look up - like these little PVC numbers. I've never worn PVC before but already I'm hooked! The straight leg cut mean they are super comfortable and you can actually move in them - perfect for when you've sunk a bottle of wine and ready to (try) and dance.

Outfit 2: If you fancy a bit of Rodarte-esk glitz

So this is how you do a glitz party top and make it chic. Of course the Swedes totally nail cool girl party style. Rouched sleeves and in a shimmer lame; it's best to dress this down with some denim. I recommend the MOM jeans as they have a great high waist you can tuck into and also do wonders for your butt. It's all about mixing your fabrics to ensure your look is balanced.

Outift 3: For when you're going out out

I cannot stop thinking about this skirt. It is THE ultimate party piece and a total steal at £55. We saw tons of statement ruffles sent down the AW16 runway, so what a thrill that they've finally hit the high street - and, boy, they've done good. This skirt speaks for itself so pair back the rest of your look with either knitwear or a printed t-shirt. I decided to team the skirt of dreams with this textured cream jumper, simply because I was totally obsessed with it and has the perfect relaxed feel I'm after. I always think: if you feel comfortable, you look great. With a flash of leg this look is party-ready but just that one notch cooler. If you're a lover of comfort, like me, then brogues are still a huge hit and give it a masculine touch.
