You Can Now Shop Alexa Chung's First Ever Collection
Alexa Chung

Long before bloggers were given us daily #OOTD inspo, there was Alexa Chung. For the past 10 years, the model/ TV presenter and writer has made us hanker after whatever she was papped in. From Peter Pan collared dresses and Mulberry bags to Barbour jackets and even Hunter wellies, whatever Chung wore, it almost instantly sold out, leading to her influence on fashion sales being dubbed 'The Chung Effect.' Now, after years of collaborating with other brands, think Madwell, AG Jeans and Marks & Spencer, Alexa has finally launched her own collection: ALEXACHUNG and you can see and shop the entire collection right here.

Speaking about her design debut Alexa says: 'I had been creeping towards this goal of starting my own business for years and finally it just felt like the right time to take the plunge. The experience I have enjoyed in art directing, modelling, and designing for other brands bolstered my confidence and experience across some of the many areas it takes to form a fully-fledged brand. Ultimately, I just really like making clothes and dreaming up new outfits and although it's a risk I was too curious not to try to do this - to make my dream a reality.'

Said to maintain: 'The perfect balance between masculinity and femininity,' Alexa's collection is quite evenly split between her signature tomboy style and more traditional 'girly' looks spanning daywear, eveningwear, shoes and jewellery. With Alexa listing inspiration taken from her own personal style icons that include David Hockney, Jane Birkin and David Bowie, the results essentially cater for every mood. So there are classic cut shirts and neat jackets for when you want to look 'profesh,' flirty floral dresses which would be perfect for wedding season and even a pinafore dress in lilac PVC which practically spells out party. Naturally, being Alexa there are also a lot of pieces that seem to have been designed with festivals in mind like a hooded floral dress, you can just see being styled with a pair of Hunters. 'Music has had a huge influence on my work as have my friends,' says Alexa. 'I don't think I'll ever stop finding musical magicians compelling. Anyone who is authentic and true to themselves and original in being so bold as to follow their heart I find inspiring because it reminds me to pay attention to instinct and expression.'

Within the collection there is also a section described as 'daily luxuries' which include stripy mohair sweaters and slogan t-shirts with hand drawn illustrations from Alexa's own father.

With prices starting from £85, Alexa will produce four collections per year which alongside being sold on her own retail site will also be stocked internationally in a range of luxury retailers including Selfriges in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Opening Ceremony in the US.
